Passover Cleaning Humor

In English it is Called Passover and in Hebrew they call it Pesach. The holiday is 8 days long and is a reminder to the Jewish people of their release from slavery in Egypt over a thousand years ago. One of the traditions of Passover is that observers are not allowed to eat leavened bread, so they have to eat Matzos instead.

It is also a tradition to rid themselves of all crumbs and even the smallest scraps of food that is not deemed ok for the holiday. To do this they clean every room of the house like it has never been cleaned before. Books get taken off the shelves and wiped down, refrigerators and large appliances get moved even the kids toys get cleaned. In most Jewish homes around the world the week before Passover there is a major spring cleaning taking place.

To help add some levity to a very busy time here is a joke about Passover called Impossible Timing, which is about this very subject.

Impossible Timing:
A financial genius, and observant Jew, named Samuel, accepted a job as the VP of a large Brokerage firm in Utah, a state known as a Mormon State.

When the company employees herd that a Jewish man was going to become the new VP, the members of the company's board of directors put lots of pressure on the president of the company. "We are religious people here," they said. "It can't be that a Jew will handle all our money."

The president did his best to calm his employees down, but he quickly saw this was going to be a losing battle, so he called Samuel into his office to explain to him the situation. After explaining it to him Samuel was given the option to convert and become a Mormon or to leave a great job that pays a 6 figure income.

Samuel decided that he would convert. So he went home and told his wife that from now on they would be going to Church services every Sunday.

After several months had passed, Samuel's wife was still troubling him about their conversion. "This is too difficult for me. I miss the Sabbath: lighting candles and blessing the wine. I miss the holidays. Money is not everything, Samuel dear."

Each time that his wife would bring the subject up it made him feel a little worse, until he was no longer able to take it and went to speak to the company President

"I can not continue to live like this" Samuel said. "I regret my decision to convert in the first place. Money is not everything. My wife and I have not been able to sleep in weeks. This is too heavy a price for us to pay. I was born a Jew and I want to die a Jew. And if you want me to quit, I will leave now without another word."

The president with a look of sympathy in his eye apologized to Samuel and said that he did not realize that this had been so difficult for him. He also told Samuel not to quit and that he could go back to being Jewish and can keep the job.

When Samuel arrived at home he had a giant smile on his face. His wife, who was watching television at the time, asked him why he was so happy, and he said to her "You won't believe it! It's a miracle. We are going back to being Jews, and I still retain my job."

The expression on his wife's face was clearly showing she was not happy as she started yelling "are you crazy?"

Samuel, who was surprised by his wife's reaction said to her "But this is what you have been complaining about for so long. Don’t you want to be a Jew again?"

His wife's face grew even darker after this as she replied ""Of course I want to. Of course I want to," she said. "But now? Only a week before Passover?"

Fly-Fishing Gears

Fly-fishing has been around for hundreds of years. In medieval times, anglers, naturally, fished for food, however as intensive methods increased the readiness and availability of fish to the masses; it then evolved more as a form of sport and leisure. Over the years it has grown to become a real test of skills. A warning though - it can become addictive, in a good way, of course.
Fly-fishing is distinctly different from regular fishing. With plain fishing, you use lures and often live bait to bring fish to your line and hook them. When you are fly-fishing, you use a fly that resembles a real insect that the fish feed on naturally. The line is longer and you imitate the movement of the fly or insect on top of the water so that the fish thinks they are biting at a real insect.
Casting is constant in fly-fishing. You put the fly out in the water and then draw it back several times. This makes the fish thinks the fly is landing on the water and then taking off again. Compare this with regular fishing, whereby you cast your line letting it rest until the fish bites making the bobber sink into the water.
You can catch some immense fish using either method, but when you are fly-fishing; you have the opportunity to "battle" the fish for survival. This can be extremely rewarding as 'man' battles nature for the top position.
So what are the flies made from? Well, they are made out of natural materials in fly-fishing. Regular fishing uses man-made materials such as latex and plastic. Most fervent fly fishermen will tell you that the fish are much more attracted to a natural lure rather than a man-made one. This, they say, makes fly-fishing an incredibly fulfilling sport.
You can fish just about anywhere - a local pond, a lake, or even a reservoir. Wherever you choose to go fly-fishing, you will want to ensure that there are lot of fish. This may entail travelling to rivers and streams where fish like trout and walleye are known to inhabit. The challenge in fly-fishing lies in making the fly look real to the fish below water.
Fly-fishing is a great excuse to take some awesome holidays in remote places like Alaska and Canada. Mexico, South America, and even Russia would make for fabulous destinations, too. Turn you newly found addiction into a great adventure - beats fishing at your local lake or pond anytime.
Many passionate fly fishermen consider fly-fishing to be a real sport of kings. By taking skill, finesse, and masses of patience you will become good at fly-fishing. Thousands of anglers couldn't agree more. Once you've been fly fishing, you'll be clamouring for more!

Breast Enhancement Surgery

Breast enlargement surgery, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), was the fourth most popular invasive surgical procedure among cosmetic plastic surgeries performed in 2000. In a press release dated July 12, 2001, the ASPS says that breast augmentation was performed on 212,500 women last year.

Meanwhile, millions of women have been subjected to the ill effects of these modern day vanity contraptions that were bought in good faith.

Remember!!

Silicone gel implants were banned in 1992 by FDA.

If you have (or had) a ruptured silicone breast implant, you will be denied Health Insurance Coverage.

Saline-filled implants tend to have a higher rate of leaking and deflation than silicone gel implants, which means more frequent surgery to replace them.

In a study published in the Lancet medical journal, Dr Lori Brown of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says: "There is emerging consensus that both the incidence and prevalence of breast-implant rupture are much higher than previously suspected."

21% overall increase in cancers for women with implants, compared to women of the same age in the general population.

Implant patients were three times as likely to die from lung cancer, emphysema and pneumonia as other plastic surgery patients. The study is based on medical records and death certificates of almost 8,000 women with breast implants, including silicone gel implants and saline implants, and more than 2,000 other plastic surgery patients. ( National Cancer Institute (NCI), Boston University, Abt Associates, and the Food and Drug Administration, with Dr. Louise Brinton from NCI as lead author.

Pregnancy and childbirth is the most wondrous experience of a woman’s life. To describe it, one must use a list of contradictions. What other event can be so universal, yet so personal? At what other time does a woman feel more in tune with her feminine side, while yet tapping into her strongest reserve of raw power? What other rite of passage takes her to the very doors of death, only to open them and find new life? There is no other time when a woman can feel so sick while being in perfectly good health. There is no other event quite like it.

After a century of highly medicalized prenatal care and childbirth, the trend in recent decades has swung back toward natural, gentle birthing techniques. Midwives and doulas, once frowned upon by the medical establishment, are now being welcomed into hospitals, oftentimes replacing doctors at the pregnant woman’s bedside. Much has been written about the benefits of water, hypnotism, and naturopathy in prenatal care and childbirth. This article will focus on the use of aromatherapy to ease the discomforts, relieve emotional stress, and maintain good health of mother and baby throughout pregnancy.

Each pregnancy comes with its own set of discomforts, arising from ordinary fluctuations in hormones and bodily changes. While diet and lifestyle changes are sometimes necessary for best results, many irritations, included those noted below, can be alleviated by the use of essential oils. When selecting oils, purchase only those of high-quality, which have been distilled for therapeutic use, and are free of additives. Due to the heightened sense of smell during pregnancy, limit blends to one or two oils at a time; you needn’t purchase every oil on this list. Try a couple and see which ones you like best. You will see that many oils have overlapping qualities.

Nausea, headache, and morning sickness, which are often the earliest complaints in pregnancy, can be treated by diffusing essential oils into your breathing space. Not only can doing this counteract diagreeable odors, but using oils with antiseptic properties, such as lavender or tea tree, will cleanse the environment of harmful airborne bacteria—protecting against colds and flu. To diffuse, simply mix 3 drops lavender with 1 drop peppermint and 1 drop eucalyptus in a bowl of water. Or if you prefer, specialized diffusers on the market heat and vaporize the oil molecules, which spreads the scent faster and farther into the room. If you are going out, keep a cotton handkerchief and a vial of lavender or peppermint with you. Place 1 drop of lavender or peppermint on the cloth and hold it over your nose, inhaling deeply, to prevent headache or nausea.

Cool or warm compresses can do wonders to restore a feeling of balance and wellness. Fill a bowl with warm or cool water (whichever appeals to you.) Add 3-4 drops of lavender, and drape a flannel across the top of the water to pick up the film of oil. Wring out the flannel and place it on the forehead or front of the ribcage. For warm compresses, cover the flannel with plastic and add a towel.

Citrus oils, such as orange, lemon, grapefruit, and bergamot, are safe to use in early pregnancy and have uplifting qualities. They are particularly effective in alleviating vomiting. Add 7 drops of any citrus oil to 1 ounce olive oil (or another carrier oil) and massage over the abdomen for best results.

Varicose veins respond well to cypress, geranium, lemon, and lavender oils. Use any mixture of these oils in a warm bath (total 6 drops), with alternating warm and cool compresses(total 4 drops) on the affected areas, or in a massage oil (total 7 drops essential oil per ounce olive oil). When massaging, use gentle strokes from the foot upward, being careful not to apply too strong of pressure where the varicosity begins or ends.

Women who complain of hemorrhoids and swollen anal tissue may find relief in taking a cool sitz bath with 6 drops lemon oil. To prepare the bath set a large plastic tub in the bathtub and fill with water. Add the oils and stir to spread. Keeping legs and feet outside the plastic tub, lower yourself into the water and soak for 20 minutes. Follow up with an aromatic massage of 7 drops cypress and 7 drops lemon oil in 2 ounces olive oil.

Another ailment common in pregnancy is edema, or water retention. Lavender, geranium and rosemary oils combat this condition by stimulating the lymphatic system to drain excess fluids from the body. Gently massage the feet and ankles, using upward strokes, with a combination of these oils in olive oil; or try a cool footbath with 3 drops geranium or lemon oil and 3 drops lavender.

Almost every woman earns at least a couple stretch marks by the end of her pregnancy. These can be prevented or reduced by topically applying a blend of 1 ounce each of wheat germ oil and hazelnut oil with 4 drops neroli, 2 drops carrot seed, and 2 drops geranium. Massaging the blend into thighs, hips, breasts and belly every night and morning will nourish the skin and help maintain elasticity.

Please note that there are some essential oils which should not be used during pregnancy as they are known abortifacients. These include basil, fennel, myrrh, parsley, sage, and thyme. Other oils which are emenogogues are listed in some texts as unsafe during pregnancy, while promoted in others. Cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, cypress, jasmine, juniper, lavender, marjoram, peppermint, rose, and rosemary should therefore be used with care.

Naked Minerals, the makeup that is actually good for your skin

In a time where citizens are inundated with media articles and press reports describing the decline of air and water quality, educated consumers search to find products that provide safer, healthier advantages over conventional wisdom. Organic produce and all natural products tout the benefits of chemical-free lifestyles while still maintaining consistent quality. Although many of these products can be found in grocery stores and specialty food markets, few have found their way into the cosmetic aisle. Naked Minerals provides all the benefits of traditional cosmetics while improving skin quality with healthy, all natural ingredients.

Naked Minerals has only begun to find its place among quality, natural cosmetics and it will only continue to grow. Like other mineral makeup, Naked Minerals uses pulverized minerals and rocks to create a light powder that floats on the skin, creating a lightweight, natural look and feel. Since the powder in Naked Mineral cosmetics contains no additives, fillers, or binders, nothing is absorbed into the skin and pores are left open to let the skin breath. Because of this, Naked Minerals does not weigh down skin or look heavy. Instead, the minerals allow skin to regenerate and heal, providing a healthy atmosphere for cell development.

The natural ingredients in Naked Minerals provides an all-natural protective barrier against damaging sunlight while improving skin quality. The light layer of powder provides SPF 15 protection without the use of damaging chemicals. By floating on the skin, the minerals and mica protects the skin from ultraviolet sunlight while reflecting light in such a way that produces a look of radiance. This glow is a result of both light reflection and healthier skin. In addition to floating on the skin and allowing air circulation through the pores, Naked Minerals makeup contains skin-conditioning vitamin E and will not clog skin or flare acne. In fact, by allowing skin to breath while reducing the appearance of acne, Naked Minerals cosmetics creates an atmosphere in which blemishes can heal. Traditional pimple medicine and treatment clogs pores and increases oil production, causing even greater skin problems. Naked Minerals reduces the appearance of these blemishes while providing healthier skin conditions to promote healing.

Naked Minerals also provides relief from common skin conditions such as Rosacea, brown spots, dark circles, and sunburn. Not only will these natural cosmetics protect skin from continued sun abuse, but the minerals and powders even out skin tones, providing balanced color throughout the face. Naked Minerals skin products combine light reflecting powders that diffuse light around dark areas and create the appearance of smoother, younger skin while promoting healthier skin with each use. The versatility of each product provides a wide range of cosmetic use and skin protection in one small package. These products provide the radiant look while still maintaining healthy and natural beauty.

Why the opposite breast should be evaluated with MRI?

Breast cancer is a worldwide problem with which causes 502,000 deaths per year worldwide. In the United States breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in women. Every year more than 40,000 women in the United States die of breast cancer. It is estimated the a woman living in the United States have one in eight chance of developing breast cancer and one in thirty three chance of dying from the disease.

Incidence of breast cancer shows a dramatically increasing trend since 1970s and this increased incidence is thought to be related to the changes in life style. Compared to 1970s more women are now delaying their first pregnancy and have relatively smaller families. These factors have an effect on the level of hormonal exposure during life time and this is considered to be a major factor in the increasing breast cancer incidence in the western world.

With breast cancer being so much of a prevalent disease everything should be done to prevent the occurrence of the breast cancer and to detect the breast cancer early once it develops.

Mammogram is a technique that is very commonly used to screen women for early detection of breast cancer. Mammogram helps to detect breast cancer at a very early stage when it is more likely to be cured by surgery with or without chemotherapy and radiation therapy. MRI is a better technique to detect breast cancer early and it is proven to be more sensitive and effective in detecting breast cancer early. However this technique is not very widely available and is much more expensive compared to mammogram. Because of this reason MRI is not routinely recommended for the purpose of screening for breast cancer. However MRI is widely used in cases where the women in question are high risk for the development of breast cancer or when the mammogram result is inconclusive.

A recent study that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine has shown that women who are diagnosed with breast cancer on one breast have high risk of having breast cancer on the other breast at the time of diagnosis. This study showed that more than 3% of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer had another cancer in the other breast. These were not detected by mammograms and if mammogram alone was used these 3% of women would not have found out that they have cancer in the other breast. Because of this finding it would be best if every woman with diagnosis of a breast cancer try to obtain an MRI of the opposite breast to evaluate for small breast cancer that may be present in the opposite breast. Mammogram is not enough in this setting.

Negative Side to Conventional Cosmetics

Women and men spend millions of dollars every year attempting to improve the quality and health of their skin. They spend time and money on products and services to refinish the surface of their skin only to return to habits and routines that continue to damage both their skin and bodies. Most cosmetic and beauty products contain additives, preservatives, and chemicals designed to improve appearances at the cost of health. Not only do conventional cosmetics clog pores and weigh down skin, they also contain harmful toxins that absorb into the blood stream and into the body. Companies create conventional cosmetics and beauty products using oils and fillers that weigh down skin and clog the pores. Although some of these products create the appearance of smooth, even skin, bacteria and dirt become trapped in the skin by the oils in conventional cosmetics and create pimples and blemishes. Most men and women then resort to even more cosmetic use to cover up these skin problems, resulting in an even greater incidence of clogged pores. Skin absorbs the oils and fillers in conventional cosmetics resulting in makeup that literally weighs down the face. Not only does foundation and powder look heavy, it also feels heavy. This heavy feeling results from not just the skin’s absorption of the product, but also the inability of the skin to breath. The heavy binders and fillers of conventional cosmetics also contain chemical additives that are harmful to the body. Conventional beauty products such as foundation, blush, eye shadow, and bronzer contain a myriad of binders, toxins and dyes that absorb into the blood stream. A build up of such chemicals can produce allergic reactions and increased sensitivity in some men and women. Some of these allergies and sensitivities can result in chronic conditions and sustained sensitivity to conventional dyes, cosmetics and perfumes. Hypoallergenic products have risen as a result of consumers’ needs to use products less harmful on the body. Although most of these products still contain fillers that clog skin, the rise of products for sensitive skin proves that consumers have reacted poorly to conventional cosmetics. Naked Minerals contains no additives, dyes, colors, fillers, binders, waxes, or any other ingredient beyond natural minerals. The Naked Minerals makeup is all-natural and uses only the finest minerals to create a cosmetic that improves skin appearance and quality without clogging pores. There are no oils in Naked Minerals that traditionally clog pores, and the weightless feel and function of Naked Minerals allows skin to breathe. Naked Minerals is completely hypoallergenic with none of the toxins or chemicals traditionally found in conventional cosmetics. All of the colors are naturally derived from their mineral origin and none contain the heavy oils found in conventional cosmetics

The Difference Of Naked Minerals Versus Other Mineral Makeup

Naked Minerals makeup is a whole new level of mineral makeup. For years men and women have struggled with the mess, inconsistency, and application of traditional mineral makeup in order to gain the lightweight feel and look of natural makeup. Mineral makeup can provide clean, healthy color without the weight and painted look of conventional cosmetics, but many consumers avoid minerals because of the mess. Naked Minerals is different. This new line of mineral makeup uses new technology to bring you pure minerals in a pressed package that eliminates the mess and hassle of traditional mineral makeup.

Naked Minerals uses a refinement process that crushes, and pulverizes minerals in order to create a powder so fine it floats on the skin with out additives. Once the powder is perfected it is sterilized three times to ensure the highest quality in mineral makeup. Some mineral cosmetics claim to be all-natural but still contain binders, fillers and other ingredients in the eye shadow, blush, bronzer, and lip color. Naked Minerals has managed to refine mineral makeup technology and provide consumers with a full line of mineral makeup that is free of any additives, binders, or fillers. Other mineral cosmetics have had to resort to using binders in order to create the proper consistency for their product. Naked Minerals has created the first line of pressed mineral cosmetics that provides the luxury and look of mineral makeup combined with the ease of application of conventional cosmetics.

The double-pressed quality of Naked Minerals also ensures ease of use, travel, and application. Many mineral cosmetics contain loose powders and require specific instruments and brushes for application. Women often find these powders to be difficult to contain and apply, resulting in makeup on counters, and clothes. Often times, the whole process of applying mineral makeup takes much longer than anticipated and the consumer simply resorts to old, heavy conventional cosmetics. Because of the pressed quality of Naked Minerals, these cosmetics combine the beauty and look of mineral makeup with the ease of application of their conventional alternatives. The small compacts do not spill and contain the minerals for ease of use without the mess. Even Naked Mineral’s Kabuki brush is created from the finest natural hair to evenly distribute the minerals for an even, radiant look.

Naked Minerals has created products for every skin type and color. There are four shades of foundation that provide color for everyone from pale to the darkest shades of brown. The warm and cool sides of each foundation can be used separately or together for a neutral glow. The foundation works with each individual’s skin tone to provide the perfect balance of color and tone while accenting the natural glow of healthy skin. Naked Minerals provides consumers with the beauty and elegance of mineral makeup and the ease of conventional cosmetics.

Sri Lanka Holidays And Its British Appeal

Sri Lanka could be described as one of the most beautiful islands around the world. It is situated just off the southern Indian fringe at about 600 miles north of the equator in the Indian Ocean. There is strong evidence that human civilization has existed in this tiny island nation for over 2000 years now. The island's teeming natural beauties, a great legacy of its historic events, and a well-admired ability to host the outside world have always been applauded by travelers. Those who love examining ancient worlds, the serenity of nature and going through the excitement of life will always want to be part of Sri Lanka holidays. Travel companies selling hot deals, including those to Sri Lanka in the name of last minute holidays, could be found trading from all major countries across the globe.

Until gaining its independence in 1948, Sri Lanka had remained part of the British Empire for roughly about 150 years. The island’s control was gained by the British East India Company during the late 18th century and it was fully commissioned as a British colony in the year 1802. It never got integrated with the neighboring British India however, and was finally declared independent soon after the end of Second World War. Native Sri Lankans had already been exposed to the influences of modern education and western living style before being granted complete independence. One could still witness imprints of that British era, while traveling across Sri Lanka’s terrain in the modern days. It makes the Sri Lanka Holidays even more attractive therefore, especially for those hailing from the UK.

The British hierarchy in Sri Lanka had begun growing tea, coffee, sugar, rubber and cinnamon from the very beginning of their stay and brought many Tamil workers from India to help speed up the whole exercise. They did not only construct modern schools, colleges and roads, but were also the chief architect of a unified Sri Lanka. There were three separate kingdoms existent across this island before the British finally arrived. The highlight of an ancient Sri Lanka apart from its British heritage includes the 5th century rock fortress at Sigiriya, the fascinating ruins of the ancient capitals of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, the royal legacy of Kandy, the cave temples at Dambulla and many more similar tourism destinations.

It takes only about nine and half hours to fly down to Colombo from London. Several types of Sri Lanka holidays are there to choose from, if one desired spending their last minute holidays in this fascinating land. The region carries one of the best sea beaches and resorts found anywhere in the world, and its hospitality is well admired by travelers from across the globe. There is a rich variety of flora and fauna, water falls and adventure activities available for those who might desire to have some exciting moments. Of course, buying up last minute holidays to Sri Lanka is the best way for getting unwound from one's hectic daily schedules. And it takes only a few mouse clicks to book them.

Wilderness Therapy Programs for Troubled Teens

Short-term wilderness Therapy programs have a high influence on behavior and also can help teenagers get back on right track. These programs normally last between 30 and 60 days. These outdoor wilderness programs include long-established therapeutic modalities into a wilderness journey experience. Student’s camps in the desert, mountains, or other natural areas, learn how to make their food, how to gather water, and how to burn fire without matches. Behavior Modification is part of a behavioral tradition developed by Pavlov in the early part of the 20th century. This therapy was modified by John Watson in 1920 and finally translated into behavior therapy by researchers and clinicians in the 1950s. These approaches were soon incorporated with cognitive behavior therapy as developed by researchers. Today, there are many branches and schools of consideration with varying terminology as regards Behavior Modification therapy. The purpose of a program of behavior modification is to change and adjust behavior that is inappropriate or undesirable in some way. In many cases, some form of behavior modification along with cognitive therapy and medication therapy are the preferred methods of treatment for disorders such as ADD, ADHD and Conduct Disorders. Behavior modification and cognitive therapy are also commonly used in the treatment for disorders such as Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse, Mood, and Anxiety Disorders. Lacrosse is a fun and high energy game that is growing quickly in the United States. Interest is starting at a young age. girls and boys alike are lining up to play this sport. The athleticism, skills and finesse needed are pulling kids from all over to engage in Lacrosse. There is a misconception of danger related to this sport however, and that raises parents concerns regarding their child participating. There has been a lot of work to help Lacrosse be a safe sport and these concerns can be put to rest. Besides, the benefits far out weigh the potential risks.

Benefit #1: Increase Mental Health

Children participating in Lacrosse are benefited in their mind as well as their body. Depression is taking over many people's lives. Children are among the rising numbers effected by this disease. Although medication may be needed, activity considerably decreases the amount needed. Some studies have shown that sixty minutes of physical activity each day is as effective as a low dose of antidepressant. Although activity is not meant to replace medication it can help reduce symptoms. Exercise also releases endorphins and tension in your muscles along with improving attitude and clearing the mind. All of these things together mean a happier kid, and more able to handle the challenges of life now and develop a method of reducing stress that will benefit them their entire life. Your child doesn't suffer from depression? The same benefits apply. Youth experience stress and anxiety regardless of specific health conditions.

Benefit #2: Prevents Obesity

Child obesity on the rise with many youth just watching, cheering, and idolizing sports and athletes. The television is on and the chips are out. Not only are they increasing caloric intake, but the lack of activity lowers their overall metabolism and makes putting on the weight easier and continual throughout the day and night. Because there seems to be a trend of across the board of inactivity and weight gain among children and adolescence the U.S. government has even established programs to help kids move and make activity a daily part of their life. Physical education programs are cut back and even cut out in some schools. Children's physical activity is limited to that which they get on the playground and high school students are not opting to take as many P.E. classes as even 10 years ago. Lacrosse is a challenging and engaging sport that motivates children and teens to want to get the exercise they need.

Benefit #3: Build Endurance

Lacrosse combines the skills of basketball, soccer and hockey into a fast paced, high endurance test of strength and agility. With a playing area roughly the size of a football field there is a high demand for speed and strength. The training is rigorous and focused. Dedication is required to succeed. Struggling physically also helps build a person mentally. Pushing through and making a goal builds confidence and commitment. The hard work that goes into this sport helps develop a strong character, one that will benefit a person for years to come and help them endure other things in life unrelated to the game.

Benefit #4: Social Interaction

One of the great things about team sports is that you are part of a team. The players work, sweat, plan and play together. The time spent focused on a goal bonds the players together. Childhood and adolescense is a time for searching and learning to relate to peers and form friendships. Playing together allows for positive shared experiences with others and a setting to develop social skills. Children and teens who can be together and have a common purpose will have a greater chance at success in life, as much of what people do for work and community involves associating and working with others.

If your child is interested in playing lacrosse, these are only a few benefits they will experience. With the popularity of this sport growing more each year, and with leagues and teams set up all over the country, it is a past-time that can continue on throughout their life.

The Proven Way to Quit Smoking

This article is dedicated to those who decided to quit smoking once and for all, and now are looking for ways to stop smoking. Here is the original program, that will show you how, following a few steps, you can forget this bad habit and abandon the cigarette. First of all you need motivation. When you stop smoking it is important to know the reason why it has to be done. In this case the result is not a goal. The reason to change your life can be care about the health of your future children, your family, and other people you love, because they become passive smokers, winning the heart of a person that does not approve smoking is a good reason too. You can find thousands of motives to stop smoking. But don't make a test of your will-power a reason of struggle for the health - that usually leads a person to the beginning of the way. This makes your next try twice harder. Next step is to put away all things that remind you about smoking. Hide as far as you can or better get rid of all the ashtrays, lighters, smoking boss... (joking). Don't feel sorry for all this stuff, if you are about to quit smoking they won't be necessary anymore. If there are some things that are really precious to you, presents or something else, give them to your friends for storage. And take them back only when you will be ready for that. People who stopped smoking recommend such a trick as a last cigarette. Before smoking this symbol of new life, you should rinse your mouth with 0,1% solution of silver. The connection of smoke and silver will give detasteble feeling, and this will protect you from nostalgic mood about the last smoked cigarette. Smoking is mainly a psychological dependence. As soon as you quit smoking a plenty of free time will be at your service. Finally free from the cigarette your hands will not know what to do, so, to prevent the return of old habit you should find them another business. Try a hand trainer, beads of cell phone games. By the way, British scientists found out that the popularity of cell phone games has decreased the quantity of smokers. Researches showed that the game is a way to fight the stress; it is more effective and does no harm to health. Not only your hands, but also your mouth will have to find a new occupation, when the cigarette is gone. Make a store of gums, even tobacco replacing once. However, a better idea is to use natural (herbal) smoking cessation products like Nicocure. People that stopped smoking always mention that during first months they felt bad: dizziness, vomiting and total weakness are natural parts of the nicotine withdrawal process. These are the signs of recovery. These symptoms will disappear with the first smoked cigarette, so as the chances to be free from bad habit. Do not give up! Use any kinds of products for people who quit smoking: nicotine or - better - natural plasters, pills, gums, patches, anything, just don't smoke! So, you've made it, several days without a smoke, but smokers around remind you about the old desire. It is no use to tell how to fight the temptation, the best way is to avoid it. People, who had passed this way to the end often tell that situations, usually accompanied by smoking, such as stress, parties with smoking friends, were the hardest to cope with. Many people had never passed this barrier. Psychologists explain this as a stereotype of behavior, which stays in the memory of a smoker. In order to fight it link up your imagination. Can you see yourself as a nonsmoking person between smoking friends? Now attune yourself. Change your memories, replace a picture of you smoker on you healthy person. Use the ability to control your desires and emotions given to humans. In conclusion, I'll remind you what I've mentioned earlier, it is all about reasons and goals. If you stopped smoking and you don't want to go back, remember that the desirable goal is reached, now you receive from life much more then you had before. Be glad, be happy, using your new abilities, and this emotions will help you to keep on going as far as possible from old bad habit.

Cytomel (Liothyronine Sodium) Profiles by OrtPharmacy

Cytomel is not an anabolic/androgenic steroid but a thyroid hor-mone. As a substance it contains synthetically manufactured liothyronine sodium which resembles the natural thyroid hormone tricodidethyronine (L-T3). The thyroid of a healthy person usually produces two hormones, the better known Lthyroxine (L-T4) and the aforementioned L-triiodine-thyronine (L-T3). Since Cytomel is the synthetic equivalent of the latter hormone, it causes the same processes in the body as if the thyroid were to produce more of the hormone. It is interesting to note that L-T3 is clearly the stronger and more effective of these two hormones. This makes Cytomel more effective than the commercially available LT4 compounds such as L-thyroxine or Synthroid. L-T3 has proven to be 4-5 times more biologically active and to take effect more quickly than L-thyroxine (L-T4)." In school medicine Cytomel is used to treat thyroid insufficiency (hypothyroidism).

Among other secondary symptoms are obesity, metabolic disorders, and fatigue. Bodybuilders take advantage of these characteristics and stimulate their metabolism by taking Cytomel, which causes a faster conver-sion of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Bodybuilders, of course, are especially interested in an increased lipolysis, which means in-creased fat burning. Competing bodybuilders, in particular, use Cytomel during the weeks before a championship since it helps to maintain an extremely low fat content, without necessitating a hunger diet. Athletes who use low dosages of Cytomel report that by the simultaneous intake of steroids, the steroids become more effective, most likely as the result of the faster conversion of protein.

To a great extent several bodybuilders who are pictured in "muscle magazines" and display a hard and de-fined look in photos, eat fast food and iron this out by taking Cytomel. The over stimulated thyroid burns calories like a blast furnace. Nowadays, instead of Cytomel, athletes use Clenbuterol which is becoming more and more popular. Those who combine these two compounds will burn an enormous amount of fat.

Cytomel is also popular among female bodybuilders. Since women generally have slower metabolisms than men, it is extremely difficult for them to obtain the right form for a competition given today's standards. A drastic reduc-tion of food and calories below the 1000 caloric/day mark can often be avoided by taking Cytomel. Women, no doubt, are more prone to side effects than men but usually get along well with 50 mcg/day. A short-term intake of Cytomel in a reasonable dosage is certainly "healthier" than an extreme hunger diet.

As for the dosage, one should be very careful since Cytomel is a very strong and highly effective thyroid hormone. It is extremely impor-tant that one begins with a low dosage, increasing it slowly and evenly over the course of several days. Most athletes begin by tak-ing one 25-mcg tablet per day and increasing this dosage every three to four days by one additional tablet. A dose higher than 100-mcg/ day is not necessary and not advisable. It is not recommended that the daily dose be taken all at once but broken down into three smaller individual doses so that they become more effective. It is also impor-tant that Cytomel not be taken for more than six weeks. At least two months of abstinence from the drug needs to follow.

Those who take high dosages of Cytomel over a long period of time are at risk of developing a chronic thyroid insufficiency. As a consequence, the athlete might be forced to take thyroid medication for the rest of his life. It is also important that the dosage is reduced slowly and evenly by taking fewer tablets and -not be ended abruptly. Those who plan to take Cytomel should first consult a physician in order to be sure that no thyroid hyperfunction exists.

Possible side effects are: heart palpitation, trembling, irregular heartbeat, heart oppression, agita-tion, shortness of breath, excretion of sugar through the urine, ex-cessive perspiration, diarrhea, weight loss, psychic disorders, etc., as well as symptoms of hypersensitivity." Our experience is that most symptoms consist of trembling of hands, nausea, headaches, high perspiration, and increased heartbeat. These negative side effects can often be eliminated by temporarily reducing the daily dosage. Those who use Cytomel over several weeks will experience a decrease in muscle mass. This can be avoided or delayed by simultaneously taking steroids. For the most part, since Cytomel also metabolizes protein, the athlete must eat a diet rich in protein. L-T3 can usually be found quite easily. 100 tablets of 0.05 mg each cost approx. $40. It is unlikely that there will be fakes.

DRUG ADDICTION AND RISKS

Drug addiction is compulsive use of a substance despite negative consequences which can be severe; drug abuse is simply excessive use of a drug or use of a drug for purposes for which it was not medically intended. Dependence on a substance is not necessary or sufficient to define addiction, there are some substances that don't cause addiction but do cause dependence (for example, some blood pressure medications) and substances that cause addiction but not dependence (they are mainly characterized by depression).

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

Drug abuse can lead to drug dependence or addiction. Drug addiction may also follow the use of drugs for physical pain relief, though this is rare in people without a previous history of addiction. The exact reason of drug abuse and dependence is not yet known. The genetic make-up of the individuals, peer pressure, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and environmental stress are all factors which seem to be involved. Children who grow up in an environment of illicit drug use may first see their elders using drugs. This may put them at a higher risk for developing an addiction later in life for both environmental and genetic reasons.

Commonly abused substances include:

Opiates and narcotics are powerful painkillers with sedative and euphoric qualities. These include heroin, opium, codeine, Oxycontin and others.
Central nervous system stimulants have a stimulating effect and can produce tolerance. These include amphetamines, cocaine, commonly used stimulants are caffeine and nicotine.
Central nervous system depressants produce a soothing sedative and anxiety-reducing effect and which leads to dependence. These include barbiturates (amobarbital, pentobarbital, secobarbital). Commonly used depressants, by far, is alcohol.
Hallucinogens produce psychological dependence. These include LSD, mescaline, psilocybin ("mushrooms").
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the active ingredient found in cannabis, marijuana, and hashish. Although used for their relaxing properties, THC-derived drugs can also lead to paranoia and anxiety.
Drug intoxication and drug overdose may be accidental or intentional. Drug withdrawal symptoms can occur when use of a substance is stopped. Withdrawal symptoms vary, depending on the particular substance. The withdrawal symptom depends on the length of time the drug was being used. Drug intoxication, overdose, and withdrawal can be life-threatening in some situations.

Treatment for the person with drug addiction begins with the recognition of the problem. Though earlier "denial" was considered as a symptom of addiction, recent studies has shown that this symptom can be dramatically controlled if addicts are treated with love and care, rather than being told what to do or "confronted." Treatment of drug addiction involves detoxification, support and abstinence. Emergency treatment may be indicated for acute cases. Often, there may be a loss of consciousness and the person may need special medical attention temporarily. The specific treatment depends on the drug. Detoxification is the gradual withdrawal of an abused substance in a controlled way. Sometimes a drug with a similar action is substituted during the withdrawal process to reduce the unpleasant symptoms and risks associated with withdrawal. If depression or other mood disorder exists, it should be treated appropriately. The need for treatment is underscored by the severity of illness of those who undergo detoxification and the societal costs of untreated substance use disorders.

Drug Testing At Work Place

According to the federal government estimates companies lose $82 billion in productivity each year because of substance abuse. Now, a growing number of employers are fighting back with workplace drug programs.

Is it really needed to test at work places?

According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, more than two thirds of individuals who report using or abusing drugs and alcohol are employed...50 percent full time and about half of them part time.

The cost by drug abusive employers in industry is estimated at over one hundred billion dollars a year. Three quarters of this cost is due to lost employment and reduced productivity and about 25 percent is due to medical costs and the cost of treatment for addiction.

Drug users are almost four times as likely to be involved in a workplace accident as sober workers and five times as likely to file a workers’ compensation claim, according to government data. Drug users miss more days of work, show up late and change jobs more often. The cost of a drug test, meanwhile, is usually less than $50.

Is Drug Testing at Work Place Legal?

If you plan to use alcohol and drug testing as a part of a workplace substance abuse policy, there are many legal issues that must first be addressed.

Drug testing -and particularly random drug testing is not allowed in every state in the U.S. Before proceeding with such a policy, a company needs to check with its state Department of Labor for current laws. Even if such testing is allowed, and employees are found to be using drugs and alcohol, employers may find their options are limited in how they can respond.

Advantages of Drug Testing At Work Places

There are four advantages of drug testing at work.

1. Safety: There is concern that an individual who is impaired by alcohol or drugs is an increased safety risk to him or herself, coworkers and/or the public. This may be of particular concern where employees have safety-critical functions. This is true, for example, of air traffic controllers, train drivers, ambulance drivers, pilots, bus drivers, miners and quarry workers.

2. Organizational efficiency: it is believed that the use of alcohol and drugs can be a cause

of low productivity, absenteeism and high staff turnover. It is further assumed that drug testing can reduce the number of working days that are lost through staff absence, increase productivity and reduce the costs of recruiting and training new employees.

3. Reputational risk: some employers are concerned about the damage that they believe can be caused to the reputations of their organisation as a result of alcohol and drug use among their workforce. The use of illegal drugs by employees will be a particularly sensitive issue in some professions, such as the police force and the prison service.

4 Employee welfare: it has been suggested that drug testing can help to improve the health and welfare of the workforce by deterring drug use and by helping to identify staff who have problems. These individuals can be encouraged to seek help by their employers and supported

Drug addiction has become a very destructive element in our society. The widespread use of drugs such as LSD, heroin, cocaine, "angel dust," marijuana and a long list of others has contributed heavily to a debilitated society.

The importation of illicit drugs in the United-States is a close second to the import of petroleum. According to the NIDA, drug abuse has an economic impact on society of $67 billion per year. This includes costs related to crime, drug abuse treatment, medical costs and time lost from work and social welfare programs. NIDA also states that getting treatment can reduce these costs.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that more than 25,000 people died in 2003 from drug-induced effects. CDC further reports that 123,235 adults living with AIDS in the United States in 2003 contracted the disease from injection drug use, and the survival rate for those persons is less than that for persons who contract AIDS from any other mode of transmission.

A close connection exists between crime and drug use. Alcohol and drugs account for 52 percent of all traffic fatalities, according to the Hazleden Foundation. In the U.S., 47% of all women diagnosed with AIDS are injecting drug users and another 19% report having sex with users who inject drug.

Drugs and Crime

There is a high impact on Society of drugs. It was found that drugs and crimes are interrelated, as demonstrated by researches done by the United States National Institute of Justice.

The major impact on drug-addicts is that they prone to commit crimes. They need money to finance their drug taking habit and for that they seldom have money, so they indulge themselves in petty crimes and in consequence they entangle themselves in big crimes also.

In a study done in British Columbia almost 50 per cent of those drivers involved in motor vehicle crashes who tested positive for drugs, tested positive for marihuana use. Marihuana use increases the risk of a motor vehicle accident by at least 2-4 times. This shows the consequence of drug addiction is more on society.

Prevention - Is it Possible?

The UK report in 2007 found that government-backed education and prevention programmes designed to steer youngsters away from drugs appear to have had "very little impact" on experimentation with illicit substances.

However, it can be prevented a little by seeking a continuity of services for youngsters transitions through the system between the ages of 18 and 21, by developing a cadre of adequately trained management personnel and by supporting the effort of agencies that provide a catalyst for prevention work.

Drug Testing In Schools

Drug Testing Programs in Schools are measures that teachers and administrators of a school put into place in order to discourage drug use by students. School districts saw widespread implementation of comprehensive Drug and Alcohol policies starting in the mid-1980s. Although small town school districts have generally been slower to adopt these measures, teenage drug use has not spared rural and suburban schools either.

There are many pros and cons in the school drug testing programs. Some say that the main purpose of school drug testing is not to catch kids using drugs, but to prevent them from ever using drugs, illegal or not. Once teenagers are using drugs it is much harder for them to break their addiction. If by testing the athletes or other school leaders, we can get them to say no to drugs, it will be easier for other kids to say no.

Reasons for Student Drug Testing:

· Testing gives students a chance to say "No to Drugs" when approached to use drugs.

· Student drug testing is important because children become addicted more rapidly than adults and their recovery is less likely.

· Students have a right to safe and drug-free learning environments. School administrators need reasonable tools to stop drug users and drug dealers from ruining school for everyone.

· Testing gives parents an opportunity for intervention and treatment. Parents have the right to send their kids to drug-free schools. The thought of sending their kids to a school where drugs are rampant scares parents. Drug testing helps keep our kids safe.

· The intent of this program is not to punish students. The goal is for the drug user to straighten his or her life out. The schools use drug testing as a tool to deter drug use and help students to get drug education and/or counseling. The results are not turned over to law enforcement.

The Supreme Court ruled in 1995 (in Vernonia v. Acton) that schools could randomly test student athletes who are not suspected of drug use. The Court also stated that as school athletes routinely face mandatory physicals and other similar invasions of privacy, they have lower expectations of privacy than the average student. The Court specified that its decision should not be seen as a justification for further expansion of drug testing programs. In 2002 (the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 92 of Pottawatomie County v. Earls) it was ruled in Supreme Court that all students who participate in voluntary activities, like cheerleading, band, or debate, could be subjected to random tests as well.

It's not a trust issue it's a health and safety issue. We are talking about kids here. Schools that have drug-testing programs makes atmosphere become more positive. In addition, drug test results are used for counseling purposes and are not turned over to law enforcement

How to Abstain from Drugs

Though there are many preventive acts to not to abuse drugs, drug addictives number is increasing year by year. Once a person addicted to drugs, still there is a way to abstain him from abusing drugs. It is “Drug Addiction Treatment”.
There are many reasons why a person would need to attend a drug rehabilitation program. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.
A drug rehab is a place or program that an individual enters in order to treat a drug or alcohol addiction problem. Through therapy and education, Individual's are rehabilitated using various treatment methods that enable them to lead a productive and drug free life.
There are many addictive drugs, and drug rehabs for specific drugs can differ. Drug rehab also varies depending on the specific needs of the patient. There are many different types of drug rehab programs available: in patient, outpatient, residential, short-term, and long-term. The initial step of drug or alcohol addiction treatment is drug detoxification.
In general, the more treatment received the greater the results. Drug and alcohol abusers who remain in treatment longer than 3 months typically have greater success than those who receive less treatment. Addicted individuals who undergo medically assisted drug or alcohol detox to minimize the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms but do not receive any further treatment, perform about the same in terms of their drug or alcohol use as those who are never treated at all.
Over the last 25 years, studies have shown that drug rehab treatment is very effective in reducing or eliminating drug and alcohol intake. Researchers also have found that drug abusers who have been through a treatment program are more likely to have greater stability generally in all aspects of life i.e. family, work, accomplishing personal goals etc.
Abuse of Rx and OTC medications is on par or higher than the abuse of illegal drugs such as Ecstasy (8 percent), cocaine/crack (10 percent), methamphetamine (8 percent) and heroin (5 percent).
For some individuals drug addiction treatment does not succeed at eliminating their addiction. This can result from a number of aspects of the drug addiction treatment together with the individual’s own character and personality type.
In addition to the duration of treatment, the type of drug rehab facility is an important factor as well. There are many different treatment modalities: therapeutic communities or residential treatment centers, Twelve Step, Drug Treatment, Sober Living, Drug Counseling, Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Narconon, and many more. The importance of correctly Diagnosing the individual and selecting the appropriate type of treatment option should not be underestimated as this may be the difference between success and failure in the recovery process

Drug abuse by employees cause many expensive problems for businesses ranging from absenteeism, lost productivity, accidents, and an increase in the health insurance claims.
A survey by the federal government showed full-time employees who admitted to being current illicit drug users tend to be: between the ages of 18 and 25, less educated, male, divorced or never married, white and low paid employees. The industries with highest rates of illicit drug use are food preparation workers, waiters, waitresses, and bartenders, construction workers and the workers in transportation and material moving.

Vegetarians at the BBQ

It would seem that nowadays there are a lot of options for vegetarians. Meatless alternatives seem to abound everywhere, from the neighborhood deli, to the sushi shop, to the hamburger joint. The hamburger joint? Yes, you heard correctly. With the introduction of several brands of meatless “burgers,” vegetarians can brave the very den of carnivorous pleasure. Once viewed as an eccentric oddity, vegetarians have moved from the fringe to the mainstream. However, the truth is, all too often the meatless menu option isn’t vegetarian at all…it’s just a menu item, minus the meat. Unfortunately, a white hoagie bun topped with iceberg lettuce, pickles, onions, mayonnaise, and mustard is about as unappealing to the vegetarian as it is to the carnivore counterpart.
So what about the vegetarian at the barbecue?
With its increased popularity, it’s highly likely you have friends or family members who’ve adopted this lifestyle. Don’t let this cause you angst the next time you invite them over for barbecue. With the tips below, you can be assured they’ll be licking their fingers and singing your praise as enthusiastically as your steak-loving comrades.
The first rule of thumb when barbecuing for vegetarians is that veggies are not just a sideshow anymore. Don’t doom your vegetarian guests to pick and choose among the sides to make their meals. Potato salad, relish plates, and devilled eggs? Consider. You offer steak, chicken, and fish to your meat-loving friends, but the vegetarian in attendance is offered only corn on the cob? Lame! If you want to really impress your vegetarian guests, you want to offer at least one meat-free main dish. While there are a few meat substitutions out there I advise you to think outside the box. A quick search on the internet will reveal literally hundreds of recipes for preparing veggies on the grill. A short-list of the easiest to prepare, and most popular vegetables would include potatoes, corn, tomatoes, and zucchini. If you’re willing to put in a little more effort, you can prepare a bowl of pasta to serve with the grilled veggies. Don’t blame me if your meat-loving friends fill up on this entrée and you have to make more!
The second tip to hosting a vegetarian-friendly barbecue is presentation. While a pile of juicy steaks thrown on a platter straight from the grill may look tempting, a pound of potatoes doesn’t quite have the same appeal. Take a few minutes to peruse a few vegetarian cookbooks, or preview the photographs of the recipes you check out on line. You may be surprised how tempting a plate of Stuffed Tomatoes looks with a sprig of fresh herbs and a sprinkling of balsamic vinegar, grated cheese, or drizzled oil. Let your creative juices flow freely, and watch how mouth-watering the vegetarian alternative suddenly becomes.
This article wouldn’t be complete without a word on quality. Time after time I’ve found this to be the big difference between a veggie-lover and a veggie-hater. Usually the veggie-hater has never been exposed to good quality vegetables. If you want your vegetarian entrée to come out tasting like a champ, it’s worth the effort to find the freshest produce available. Barbecue season also happens to be the best season for vegetables—so check out your local farmer’s market or neighborhood vegetable stand. Of course, the best place to get vegetables is straight out of the garden, and there are great recipes that even use the veggies you may otherwise throw away. (For example, the green tomatoes that get knocked off the vine grill up firm and tangy!) Trust me, everyone will love a vegetable that has been ripened by the sun, and picked in season.
There you have it! Take these tips with you to the grocery store and the vegetable stand, and I have no doubt your barbecue will be a big hit—for everyone!
